What are the differences between different types of roofing options?

Moriarty's Roofing offers a variety of roofing options. Depending on the structure, normally you have more than one option to choose. Let's review them:

Composition Shingle Roofing

85% of the homes in the US have a composition shingle roof system. It's one of the most affordable options. There are a lot of shingles available, that vary in longevity, shape and color. Composition shingles are highly durable and they can be easily replaced if damaged. Composition shingles can be installed on roofs with a pitch of 3/12 or higher. The main brands we work with are Owens Corning, GAF and Certainteed.

IB Roofing (flat roof)

IB is a PVC membrane that is normally installed on low pitch (or flat) roofs. You may have heard of TPO. IB is very similar, but in our opinion, a superior product. We are also an authorized installer after IB personnel trained our flat roofing crews. The IB membrane is highly reflective, which could reduce your energy consumption. It's also fire and wind resistant, and it's designed to be 100% recyclable.

Metal Roofing

Metal roofs are durable, and longer lasting than most roofing materials. It's a low maintenance system, and fireproof as well. The most popular style is Standing Seam. Metal roofs can be installed on roofs with a pitch of 1.5/12 or higher. This is one of the priciest roof systems, with a price 3 to 5 times more expensive than a Composition Shingles Roof.
